A.M. Davis Inc. is a second generation family owned and operated business Serving Central Virginia, Richmond and surrounding areas for over 65 years. A.M. Davis has developed a reputation for old fashion values of reliable service and trustworthy sales by treating customers as they would want to be treated themselves.

A.M. Davis was founded by Andrew Martin (Jack) Davis Jr., in 1945.  He started his operation out of his backyard garage. After working for years and growing the business Jack felt it was time to do other things. In 1979 Richard R Whitt Sr. (father), R. Reeves Whitt Jr. (son), Spencer L. Whitt (son) purchased A.M. Davis, Jr. Forklift Sales & Service.  They incorporated the business the same year and their path of growth began. A.M. Davis expanded its equipment offering in 1981 by becoming a Clarke dealer for floor scrubbers and sweepers.  After several years of working out of Jacks garage Richard, Reeves and Spencer felt it was time for a new facility. In 1987 A.M. Davis opened its doors at its new and current location which since has been added on to several times. Through A.M. Davis maturity and growth Spencer and Reeves felt it was time to offer a new forklift line not just quality used units.  In 1993 A.M. Davis Inc became a TCM forklift dealer. Currently Spencer Whitt who got his start with A.M. Davis as a young boy sweeping floors and turning wrenches is the sole owner and operator of A. M. Davis Inc.  In 2009 A M Davis expanded its equipment offering by providing Genie Aerial equipment and in 2010 A. M. Davis added Big Joe Electric forklifts, pallet jacks & stackers. With three generations now involved in daily operations you can be assured that A.M. Davis Inc. is here to stay and support you.

A.M. Davis got its start from the ground up as a service provider.  Over the last 65 years A.M. Davis has learned many things about how proper maintenance and proper troubleshooting steps can keep your equipment up and running saving you time and money. 

We are known in the material handling industry to be able to “Fix Most Anything” which allows us to keep our customers and their various needs in mind and understood. We will custom tailor service and maintenance programs to fit individual customers’ needs, because we still believe the customer come first.

Here at A.M. Davis Inc. we go about business differently.  Our plan is to “Forge Long Lasting Partnerships” with our customers.  We don’t want to just sell you a piece of equipment or get you up and running, we want to stand beside you and support you.  Our goal is to take the stress and confusion of maintaining your forklift or fleet of forklifts out of your mind, so you can concentrate on your core business. Today 65 years after our start we are still working with many original customers or customers we obtained within our first few years of service. With our average employee working for us over 8 years, several starting after high school and still working for us 25 years later, we have to be doing something right.
